Moisturising from the inside…
Nothing beats drinking plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated, try to cut down on alcohol and caffeine, eat plenty of veggies and watch your salt intake. Some people find fish oil supplements can really help dry skin in the winter months too.
…and the outside
Our skins weren’t designed to be scrubbed clean more than once a day so try and keep baths and showers to a daily treat and keeping the temperature down helps too. Try showering with a moisturising wash that doesn’t contain harsh sodium lauryl sulphate that can really dry the skin. Boo Boo’s Silky Soft Body Wash contains avocado oil and water lily extract, both excellent moisturisers for extra silky skin.
Remember that the best time to moisturise the skin is as soon as you have gently towel-dried your skin straight from the
bath or shower, when the skin is still damp. Those in the know ‘double-moisturise’ by first applying an oil – Miracle Oil can’t be beaten for its ultra-rich Argan-enriched nourishing properties, then sealing it in with an thick and creamy body butter, try Soft & Creamy Body Smoother, described by Parentdish as ‘hands down our favourite product’.
And before you head outside (remember to grab the sunlight while you can, even if it is cold!) don’t forget to slather on a thick moisturiser on your face (our current fave is Temple Spa’s Double Cream which works wonders on our dry faces!) and don’t forget your hard-working hands, treat them to Velvet Hands Luxurious Repair Cream before you head out, pop on a pair of gloves and they’ll be silky soft by the time you take them off.
Have a great October!
Love from Jennifer and Corinna
